Linden Oaks: Special Education Center is a premier institution in Buena Park, CA, dedicated to providing comprehensive support services for students with special needs. Our expert team offers Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy (OT), Counseling, Behavior Intervention, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) strategies. With decades of collective experience, our specialists tailor interventions to address the unique needs of each student.

Technology plays a pivotal role in supporting student learning and communication at Linden Oaks. Our embedded assistive and augmentative communication technology (AAC) includes an array of hardware, software, and devices that students utilize daily.  Our advanced technological resources include Smartboards in every classroom, iPads, technology lab computers, touch-enabled tablets, and interactive Smart Tables. Additionally, we offer specialized equipment such as eye-gaze devices and switch-enabled technology to cater to diverse learning needs.

Speech-Language Pathology

Our Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) department is staffed with highly qualified Speech-Language Pathologists and Speech-Language Pathologist Assistants. These professionals specialize in the evaluation, treatment, and research of communication disorders. Our team addresses a range of speech and language challenges, including fluency disorders, articulation difficulties, voice disorders, and language impairments such as aphasia and delayed language development. We provide AAC devices for those requiring them, enhancing their ability to communicate effectively. We prioritize individualized communication strategies, incorporating picture symbols, sign language, and communication devices to best support each student’s needs.

Occupational Therapy

The Occupational Therapy (OT) Department at Linden Oaks employs evidence-based treatment approaches to assist students with physical, developmental, mental, and emotional challenges. Our trained Occupational Therapists and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants work to enhance students’ functional abilities in key areas such as sensory processing, self-regulation, fine motor skills, and visual motor coordination. Our goal is to promote independence in daily living activities and school-related tasks.

Behavioral Intervention Services

Our Behavioral Intervention Services Department follows an evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) framework, ensuring best practices for assessing and addressing challenging behaviors associated with learning difficulties. Our specialists utilize functional assessments, strategic reinforcement strategies, antecedent interventions, and social skill development programs to create a structured and supportive learning environment. Data-driven monitoring ensures continuous improvement. Our highly trained staff includes Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), who work closely with educators and therapists to implement effective behavior support plans.

Counseling Services

The Counseling Department at Linden Oaks consists of Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, a credentialed School Psychologist, and a UCLA PEERS-certified counselor. Our counseling professionals provide individualized and group therapy sessions designed to support students’ emotional and social well-being. They collaborate with educators and families to develop tailored strategies that enhance students’ ability to succeed academically and socially. By fostering emotional resilience and adaptive coping skills, our counseling team ensures that students receive the support necessary to thrive in their educational journey.
